About me

Hello there, my name is Giang Son.

I am an experienced data practitioner and a novice AI researcher. Currently, I'm studying at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Formerly, I was: a Data Analyst in the tech industry, a 1^st class graduate in Finance, a 2x Vietnam National Prize winner for English, recipient of multiple scholarships and awards. I am a reader. I read from time to time, mostly non-fictions, with the topics ranging from business, economics, philosophy, biographies, math & computer,... I occasionally read novels too. You can check out my Goodreads bookshelf (which has over 100 titles now).

I am a gamer. I have been for the vast majority of my life. My favorites are single-player action games: The Witcher 3, God of War and God of War Ragnarok, Metal Gear Solid V... I used to be a PC guy (gaming laptop) but now only play on console (PS5, Switch Lite).  

I am a bit of a programmer. I learnt how to code in Python, SQL (I know, it's not a "real" programming language), and a little bit of HTML (also not a real programming language). I created this website with Django & Bootstrap. I also learnt the basics of R, C, ... but never used them. 

And yes, I am also a writer and this is my personal blog. I write for myself, because it's a good hobby that benefits mental health & fuels creativity. I also write to myself: I only publish things that I would find interesting and useful. I strive to be informative and/or entertaining. I don't expect any audience, but I reckon if my ideas have a slight chance of being helpful, then they're worth sharing.
